Like stay at this 5 star resort (St. Regis in Deer Valley) and eat at the amazing restaurant inside (J&G Grill) and listen to incredible speakers (David Ulrich and Curtis LeBaron) address us on current HR topics.
This was for a BYU Recruiter's Conference. I didn't plan to stay up at the resort since I live at the base of the canyon, but one of the speakers had to leave early and wasn't using him room so they offered it to me. I don't think I'll ever be able to stay in a normal hotel room again. It wasn't just a room, it was a suite overlooking the slopes. It had not just one, but two fireplaces, a kitchen, a huge jacuzzi tub, a television in the bathroom mirror and a very comfy bed. And I stayed there by myself. It's times like that when having a husband would be really nice. :)
Like going to Jazz games. Yes it was even the Jimmer game and as you can see, I got to take some of my favorite people with me.
And like going to Hawaii.
I am responsible for all the recruiting in our Honolulu office and they finally decided that rather than manage things from across an ocean, I needed to be there in person for a few days. It just so happened that I had a friend who was going to be in Maui the weekend before I needed to be in Honolulu so I went over a few days early and spent the weekend in Maui. This was my first time to visit the fair state of Hawaii and when I got off the plane in Maui, even the air smelled delicious. It was a wonderful weekend, before a grueling week of work. I'm not complaining about having to go to a tropical island for a week, but I worked from sun up to sun down. Even the valet at the hotel commented about my work schedule...that is never good. But fortunately, my work is mostly enjoyable. I visited our Honolulu office, BYU-Hawaii, and University of Hawaii. I loved meeting all the professionals, students and faculty. I told the director of the accounting program at BYU-Hawaii that if they ever needed an extra professor, I would be more than happy to come over for a semester.
My friends who were in Maui happened to be staying at the Ritz Carlton (one of them had a work event there). The few days were full delicious food, lovely beaches and great company.
The view from breakfast.
The Gazebo where we partook of delectable macadamia nut pancakes with coconut syrup.
More of the view.
The ladies.
Just a little dancing after breakfast.
The best Hawaiian Shave ice I had while there.
Amazing beach at Kaanapali. Great snorkeling.
BYU-Hawaii took us to the Polynesian Cultural Center. Laura was my Valentine's Day date. :) We had a lovely time.
The tree climbers.
Our Valentine's dates.
Our Valentine's dinner.
My cute cousin Dalein and her husband Bryant are attending school in Honolulu and I got to spend the weekend after with them. This is at one of the look out points where we visited after church.
It was a little bit windy.
Dalein and I went over to the other side of the island for the day. I went to the lovely Honolulu temple where someone who is kind of a big deal happened to be getting married that day. We may or may not have seen her outside the temple.
We didn't actually know until afterwards that it was her. Bree actually texted me to ask if I had seen her there. So random.
We spent the rest of the day trying to surf in Haleiwa. It was fun but exhausting and I'm not sure I'll try it again. They make it look so easy in Blue Crush. :)
I of course had to visit a light house while I was there.
The whole trip was amazing and I'm glad I got to go. But next time, I'd like to go back just for fun.
